When I came across the following ancient Buddhist scriptures many years ago they had an immediate impact. The first became a significant part of my life philosophy while the second, when I was finally able to put it into practice, has brought me much comfort and ease.
“As a bee seeks nectar from all kinds of flowers, seek teachings everywhere. Like a deer that finds a quiet place to graze, seek seclusion to digest all you have gathered. Like a madman, beyond all limits, go wherever you please; and live like a lion, completely free of all fear.” – a tantra of Zogqen
“The mind and the world are opposites, and the vision arises where they meet. When your mind doesn’t stir inside, the world doesn’t arise outside. When the world and the mind are both transparent, this is true vision. And such understanding is true understanding.” – Bodhidharma.
